Monthly Archives: June 2013

June 30, 2013 – Luke 15 – In Faith, etc…

Today’s passage: Luke 15:1-11

How do we make a impression that is lasting and permanent in our faith in Jesus Christ? We see the personality of Jesus when he captivated the crowds and the power of Jesus by his healing acts. Jesus not only taught the message with authority, but he himself was also the message. How can we be fulfilled in our faith in Jesus? How does Jesus change our understanding of him?

June 16, 2013 – Luke 15 – Father’s Day Sermon

Today’s passage: Luke 15:11-32

On this Father’s Day, the sermon is taken from one of the most well-known parables: the parable of the prodigal son. The parable serves to remind us the picture of a loving father, namely, God above, and serves as an example for how we are to relate to our families.

June 9, 2013 – Judges 6 – In Discouragement

Today’s passage: Judges 6:1-6

Discouragement is nothing new to anyone who has ever lived in this world. It comes to us merely “because [we] are human”. There are times when we reach that point of desperation and depression and cry out, “Lord, what do you want me to do?” How do we get back up?

The Bible provides many examples of people in discouragement, most of which are far worse than our own experiences. BUT the Bible also shows a loving god who listens intently and actually does something about our situations.

June 2, 2013 – Judges 3 – In Testing

Today’s passage: Judges 3:1-4

Pop quizzes, possibly the most dreaded of all forms of tests, are effective in allowing us to learn just how prepared we really are. When was the last time you experienced a pop quiz? What about ones from the Lord? Why does the Lord test us? What does the Lord hope to achieve through testing and trials?

We find plenty of examples through Scripture. Here, we focus on Israel’s test of character and trust in the Lord as they look towards taking the land God has given to them. As frustrating as tests are, this message speaks of how tests serve great purposes for teaching and training the people of the Lord.
